#1...Finally :)

Hurray! Finally, the Scrappy Dresden plate quilt top is pieced and now it's time to turn the journal page and begin a new chapter. The goal, to machine quilt it....myself!

I've taken a picture of the 'un-scared, un-blemished' top, before it becomes the practice field. Hopefully it won't end up looking like the war zone.

At the rate I move, you may see the quilted results by Christmas.  Perhaps after following Sue Nickels  DVD "Successful Machine Quilting on the Home Sewing Machine" a long with her book "Machine Quilting- A Primer of Techniques I will jump in and "Get 'er Done"!

Head over to Patchwork Times and see what others are posting.
I'll be posting journal entries updating my quilting experience so please check back when you can.

Thank you for visiting. I would love to hear from you, comments/quilting suggestions or you can always..... Wish me luck!

  1. Are you going to free motion quilt it? I think it's just beautiful. I don't know how to do free motion and I can't find a quilter I like, so I threw one on last year and just did a stitch in the ditch on it. I figured I couldn't mess it any worse than the long arm quilter did the last one I sent her. Good luck!

  2. I finally bought a Dresden ruler but not quite ready to start using it yet. I love your quilt top. The yellow is wonderful!
Have fun quilting it. I'm sure it will turn out great. Enjoy the process.

  3. Greetings Penny! Your project, the Dresden, looks fantastic. I'm sure you are well prepared to machine quilt it. That Nichols DVD is a very good one. Warm thoughts are sent your way from us quilters. BTW, I've become a "FOLLOWER".
    Happy Piecing!!

  5. I love your bright, cheery colors! I have a few UFO quilts that I'm afraid of "ruining" with machine quilting. Good luck to you!

  6. Very pretty and I think you will have such a lovely quilt when done. I have to just jump in on the quilting part because it can be scary because it is a big job.

  7. Have you watched the dvd yet? One of my 2013 goals is to use my domestic machine & quilt my twin & smaller sized quilts. I've watched lots of u-tube videos & learned some tricks. I've machine quilted one 45x58 crib quilt. I look forward to watching your progress.
Love your dresden. Classic & modern too.
Came to your site via Judy. Thanks for linking up!
